Victorian Cabochon Garnet Heart Locket
Beautiful Late Victorian Cabochon Garnet Locket in 9ct, unmarked and tested Yellow Gold. This stunning ‘lovers heart’ locket measures approximately 30 mm x 22 mm (excluding the later 7 mm loop), with a depth of 15 mm. The pendant circa the late Victorian, early Edwardian period is comprised of a fully functioning rope twisted ‘padlock’ clasp and a cabochon garnet decorated heart locket with a removable transparent rock crystal window at the rear. The claw set garnet measures 12 mm x 18.5 mm with intricate rope detail around the crown of the stone. It is possible the garnet was a later addition to the locket, and has been pierced and neatly attached to the heart. The Rock Crystal window measures 11 mm in diameter, and can be easily removed with a pair of pliers for you to add your own sentimental addition to the rear of the locket. The loop attached to the top of the pendant is also likely to be a later addition. This stunning piece of antique jewellery is in wonderful condition and filled with history, the pendant holds beautiful time telling patina from the ages, and remains in immaculate condition with a few minor imperfections that display true originality.
