Finding the right ring size needn’t be complicated. If you’re unsure, please contact us — we’re always happy to advise, particularly with antique and vintage rings where resizing depends on the individual piece.
Finding your ring size
Use a ring you already own
A ring that fits the intended finger well is one of the most accurate guides. A local jeweller can measure it for you, or you can send us the measurement.
UK, US & European ring sizes
Ring sizes differ internationally: UK sizes use letters, while US and European sizes use numerical systems.
If you’re purchasing internationally, simply send us your usual ring size and we can advise on the closest UK equivalent.

Buying a ring as a surprise
If you don’t know your partner’s ring size, an existing ring worn on the correct finger is the best guide. A jeweller can measure it, or you can carefully note where it sits on one of your own fingers and have that point measured.
Alternatively, purchase the ring in its current size and, where the design permits, we can resize it once the correct size is known.
Can an antique ring be resized?
Most rings can be resized, although the amount depends on the design, construction and setting.
Plain-shanked rings are generally straightforward, while half hoop rings, stone-set shoulders, engraved or intricately decorated bands may have a more limited resizing range. Full eternity rings are particularly difficult and in some cases resizing may not be advisable.
Every ring is assessed individually before alteration to protect its setting, hallmarks, detailing and overall integrity. Tom is an expert in antique and old jewellery so if you are unsure on whether a ring can be resized please contact us.
Our re-sizing service
Tom has over 40 years’ experience in jewellery craftsmanship, restoration and the resizing of antique and period rings. Resizing will not compromise the durability of a suitable ring.
We offer complimentary straightforward resizing of up to two UK sizes up or three down on rings purchased from us. More complex or additional precious metal alterations will incur an additional charge, which will always be discussed with you beforehand.
We aim to complete straightforward resizing promptly and, where possible, dispatch your ring the following working day. More complex alterations may take a little longer.
