A superb Victorian Gold & Amethyst Griffin In Crown Heraldic Seal crafted in 15ct yellow gold, richly decorated with intricate floral detailing. The seal is set with a large rectangular amethyst that is finely engraved with a griffin in a three-point coronet, denoting the seal belonged to an eldest son within the family’s heraldic tradition. The substantial gold mount is beautifully worked throughout, with a sculptural floral and thistles surmount and decorative florals and clover leaves around the base. The deeply chased and decoration gives the piece wonderful character from every angle. A particularly fine example of a Victorian heraldic antique, combining an engraved amethyst seal with exceptionally ornate goldwork. The seal face measures 1.65mm x 1.97mm and the piece weighs 12.6g.
